non-fashion post... Julie & Julia

I finally got around to watching Julie & Julia while mr. andrew was at work.  I greatly enjoyed it.  I think I must be getting more emotional in my old age, I cried and cried.

Amy Adams is always awesome, she is completely girl-crush worthy.

new hat and first sewing project

This is the gorgeous new hat that mr. andrew bought me for my birthday...
isn't it f*n delightful!!!!??!! I love it.  I can't wait for it to be cool enough to actually wear it.

I thought I would also share some pics of my first sewing project.  It is a lolita inspired skirt and bow set, with a very me feel to it, the pattern being distinctly different from most lolita picks.

And, here is me wearing my bow.  I think it is pretty cute. The skirt was a big hit at work yesterday, i was pleased! :)

keeping fashion interesting

Lately I have been feeling so bored with my style and with fashion in general.  My wardrobe feels stale and getting dressed in the morning has lost a lot of its magic.  I am never one to get down for long, so I put my problem solving skills to work and have been delving into alternative styles.  I also bought a simple sewing machine so that I can make what I can not find to buy.
I have always loved super feminine clothes so it is no surprise to me that my favorite style discovery (read- obsession) is Lolita.  I will not go super in depth on describing the style since I am sure I will fail miserably, and it is a complicated style to describe properly. A brief: It has nothing to do with sexy underage girls, think of it more like dressing like a beautiful doll or a Victorian girl.

Here are some items I am obsessing over...

MIA - I know, I know

I kinda dropped of the face of the digital world for a while... After I had joined the 30 of 30 challenge, stuff went a little crazy at work for a while.  Ah well, life happens, I guess. A quick summary of the rest of the challenge... I was not able to stick to my thirty items, I got bored and felt like I was wearing the same thing every day.  I was pretty successful at not shopping however, I spent under $100 in clothing and accessories for the month.  For me that was a success.

Day 3 & 4... When work gets in the way

The last couple of days have been nuts! Super busy and super crazy! What work really got in the way of was any attempt at good outfit pics and of timely updating.  Well, that's what the all star game is for.  Might as well keep myself occupied. :)

Day Two... Sunny Sunday Off

What a beautiful day! Full of errands & world cup watching but, I still managed to carve out a little bit of outside fun time.  We hit one of our local parks for a quick walk and some photo madness.

Lazy favorites today! My favorite gold flip-flops and one of my favorite day off dresses.  Not super flattering but comfortable and cool (temp control has been a must this summer).

Day One... a day late

Yesterday before work I finally got up the nerve to ask my bf to take some pics of my outfit for the day.  A couple of short observations:

1.  Modeling is hard.  Yeah, it's hard and, I am not good at it. :)
2.  Modeling is harder when you have a less than enthusiastic photographer.
It was pouring rain so the porch was as far as I would go for outside pics.  I ended up putting my hair up as soon as we went inside.  Raining weather = crappy looking hair.  Alright, enough of my whining here are some shots of my outfit.

Dress & Cardigan: Target Shoes: NY & Co Belt: Fashion Bug? Necklace: Francesca's Collection

Geez, my legs look white!  I bought these shoes last spring on clearance at NY&Co and I really like them.  I didn't wear them much last summer and I am not really sure why, I certainly have been wearing them into the ground this year.  The dress has a cute ruffle across the bust that is not really visible with the cardigan on but, work almost always includes a cardigan.
